Friday: 10.10am:
Butlins Mineworkers Championship Festival Director Steve Walker has confirmed that it is all systems go for the event this weekend.
He stated: "Butlins can assure guests that the Brass Band weekend is going ahead as normal and the sea this morning did not come within 75 yards of the prom.
The forecast for the evening high tide at 6:48pm is about the same as this morning i.e. winds around 20 mph, so we do not believe there is a risk of flooding in this particular area.
The Environmental Agencies warning for this whole area of coastline is maybe some 'overtopping' of waves in some areas but thankfully we do have robust sea defences at the front of our Resort and an excellent beach programme by the EA so we do not even expect that to happen close to our resort.
We do appreciate there are a lot of different stories going around at the minute and a very large coast line is involved, so it may be different elsewhere but this is the best information we have available at the moment."

Spoken directly with Butlins at Skegness. No problems there at all. A little flurry of snow on roads in places so they advise to be careful with driving, but apart from that they are open and ready to welcome the bands!!
7.45am
The latest weather reports from the BBC and the Environment Agency say that the expected storm surge that was heading towards Skegness has passed.
The Agency expects some renewed risk later but not as much. Roads are clear although caution should still be taken.
They advise to please check with your local weather reports before you set out on your travels.
