Now in its sixth year, the organisers of the popular Bolsover Brass Band Summer School have announced that they are to expand their course in 2017.
Directors Dr. David Thornton (above) and Dr. Brett Baker are looking to encourage more delegates to attend, whilst still being able to give each a bespoke musical experience.
Ideal base
The Summer School will once again be based at the Heritage High School in Clowne, Derbyshire, an ideal location that also allows quick connections to many of the outstanding local tourist destinations such as Bolsover Castle, Harwick Hall, Renishaw Hall, Creswell Craggs and Newstead Abbey.
The Summer School Band will also provide an end of course concert featuring easy listening but challenging repertoire, whilst delegates will benefit from the expertise of David and Brett and a world class team of tutors that include Mark Wilkinson (cornets); Steve Jones (percussion); Simon Howell (tubas); Paul Bennett (horns & flugels) and David Hirst (conducting/cornets).
David Hirst will also run the popular repertoire sessions as well as presenting a talk on the mysteries of adjudication, whilst each tutor will provide a workshop on the subject of their choice.
