Talented youngsters targeted for help by leading music charity

Talented young musicians from low income backgrounds are being invited to to see if they can gain help from one of the UKs leading music charities.

Future Talent
The Future Talent Charity is looking to try and support young musicians from low income backgrounds

One of the UK's leading musical charities is inviting applications from talented young players from low income backgrounds to help to help them achieve their ambitions.

Future Talent

Future Talent gives financial support and guidance to young musicians aged between 5 and 18 who show outstanding musical ability or potential, but for whatever reason do not have the financial means to reach their goal.

They support musicians from all musical genres and awards are given for a variety of purposes including the purchase of instruments, music lessons, fees for specialist training courses and membership to national training ensembles such as the National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Choir.

Bursaries

In this way, they hope that their 2017 bursaries of up to £2,000 will help young musicians to aim high and make their musical dreams a reality.

Not only that but they have extra funds this year to try and help musicians from the North of England, Yorkshire and North West — and they want to encourage applications from brass and percussion students from all over the UK.

Three levels of support

There are three levels of support available:

Worsley Bursary:

Available to musicians in Reception to Year 10 at the point of application. As well as the support and opportunities above, you can apply for a financial award of up to £3,000 to be used over three years.

Robinson Bursary:

Available to musicians in academic years, 11 and 12 at the point of application. As well as the support and opportunities above, you can apply for a financial award of up to £1,000 for one year. Award recipients may re-apply each year until they turn 18.

Liz & Terry Bramall Scholarship:

Available to musicians in academic years, Reception to Year 12 at the point of application who permanently reside in Yorkshire or the North of England.

Offering the same support and opportunities as above, this scholarship can continue until you turn 18 and provides an annual award of up to £2,000.

How do you apply:

The application process is now open and you will need to complete an application form (there are guidelines on the home page of their website at: http://www.futuretalent.org/ )

You will have to send a video or audio recording to go with it and a brief reference from your music teacher/tutor as well.
