Foden's Band will be exploring some well known myths and legends at a special concert alongside the Foden's Youth Band this weekend.

Myths and Legends

The event will take place at Sandbach School on Saturday 12th November starting at 7.30pm (details below) with both bands performing individual sets before coming together for a massed performance of 'Tales of Myths and Legends' composed by Andrew Stevenson.

The work takes inspiration from the well known mythical stories of Cheshire, with each of its four movements telling a different tale from history — from dragons and wizards to mermaids and much more.

Restoration Appeal

All proceeds from the concert will go towards the Foden's 'Restoration Appeal' which the band set up to meet the non-insured costs to restore items of historical value following the awful bandroom fire in April.

Band President Bramwell Tovey has released a special YouTube appeal which outlines forthcoming concert and why he feels it is so important to rescue and restore items and memorabilia of one of the world's iconic bands.

Under 16s free

With Foden's heavily involved in youth education work they also want to inspire the next generation of young musicians — and are offering free entrance to those under the age of 16 accompanied by a paying adult.

Band Manager Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "We are inviting people to attend the concert to support our appeal as well as our fantastic Youth Band.

Since the fire we have been helped by numerous organisations, bands and individuals who have been invited to the concert so that we can publicly thank them for their support in what has been an incredibly stressful period."

Focus

He added: "Things are now getting back to normal with a new band room, equipment, music and uniforms and we can now focus our attention towards the restoration side of our re-building process."

The event will take place at Sandbach School, Crewe Road, Sandbach (CW11 3NS) at 7.30pm on Saturday 12th November (admission on the door)
