St Dennis Band recently gave a very special performance of the 'National Anthem' to some very well informed listeners.
Special guests
The First Section National Champion was in the model village of Poundbury in Dorset where they performed for Her Majesty the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall — with 'God Save The Queen' played for the unveiling of a new statue of the late Queen Mother.
The event started at 9.00am, with the band performing the first of 35 different items throughout the day as the special guests completed their guided tour of Prince Charles' latest phase of urban development.
Lovely day
St Dennis played on a specially erected bandstand, proudly exhibiting The Royal Trophy outside the new Duchess of Cornwall Public House, officially opened by Prince Charles later in the day.

Invite
The band was invited to the event by Prince Charles and by virtue of being the current holders of The Royal Trophy, awarded to them at The West of England Bandsmen's Festival in Bugle in June.
Musical Director, Darren Hawken, summed up the proceedings by simply saying: "It was a lovely day."
