Leyland stars inspire next generation

Star players from Leyland Band provided the inspirational tuition for 60 delegates on the recent East Anglian Brass Band Association training day.

The East Anglian Brass Band Association recently held its annual Brass Training Day at the Hewett Academy in Norwich, where 60 delegates aged 8 and upwards enjoyed a great day of musical activities.

Leyland Band starts Ian Culross, Joe Martin, Dave Altham, Matt Brown and Chris Doran joined Course Leader James McLeod to lead the delegates through music as diverse as 'The Wizard', 'Behold the Power of God', 'A Moorside Suite' and 'Love Divine, All Loves Excelling'. They also accompanied Ian Culross in the beautiful solo 'Bring Him Home'.

Association Chairman, Christine Wade told 4BR: "It was a great day, with the delegates in their seats 15 minutes before the scheduled start time! The event was hugely successful. I was receiving emails saying what a fantastic time everyone had even before I got home."

Christine added: "Our thanks go to James, Ian, Joe, Dave, Matt, and Chris and to Norfolk County Council for a grant towards the cost of this event."

July 21 • Due to ill health, Longridge Band invite applications for a SOLO HORN. We are a friendly, committed band, who enjoy a good balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. We rehearse 10 minutes from Jct 31A of the M6, on Wednesday and Friday evening

July 20 • North Lakes Brass are seeking a CONDUCTOR with the drive to take our friendly band into the 2nd section. . We are different from most contesting bands as we rehearse just once a week (Wed), have 2 full band concerts & 4-5 contests per year.


Rushden Town Band

July 18 • Second Trombone vacancy. A friendly Midlands 1st Section Band, Rushden are looking for a Second Trombone player to come and join us. Great repertoire and concerts plus contests twice per year. Every other year, the band goes on tour.
