There was a fine turn out of playing talent on show at the OMBBA (Oldham Metropolitan Brass Band Association) Slow Melody Contest held at Austerlands Cricket Club on the weekend.
Welcome return
The adjudicator was Brian Harper who made a welcome return to the North West from his new home in Lincolnshire, and who was very impressed with the high standard, especially in the Primary Section.
The youngsters who entered the higher section also took notice of his encouraging comments put up fantastic performances against older rivals. Brain told the audience that great credit must go the teachers in the local area for preparing the competitors so well for the event.
Thanks were also given to Oldham Council for their support.
