The Brass for Africa charity received numerous wonderful donations from people across the banding globe at the Royal Albert Hall last weekend.
The charity was invited to the National Championships by event organisers Kapitol Promotions and the opportunity to showcase their inspirational work to people at the most prestigious contest in the banding calendar was a huge success.
Cornet highlight
One of the highlights was the presentation of an Odyssey cornet to Brass for Africa founder Jim Trott, by its designer Peter Pollard — on the Albert Hall stage during the contest's mid-point break.
Peter donated the cornet on behalf of John Hornby Skewes Music alongside Kapitol Promotions Philip Morris.
Icing on the cake
Brass for Africa spokesperson Paul Collins told 4BR: "We continue to receive wonderful support from the brass band community for our work, and following on from the wonderful success of the charity's appearance at Cheltenham, this was the icing on the cake."
He added: "The generosity of brass band people is amazing and once again we were overwhelmed at the Albert Hall — from enquiries of how to help and donate instruments and music, to how to sign up for up for the £1 a month scheme and the presentation of a brand new cornet from Peter.
It made for a memorable day and gave us a huge boost to our ongoing work."
