Oxted determined to rise from the flames

A nasty arson attack will not stop the Oxted Band from their aim of keep playing music.

Oxted fire
Oxted Band are determined to rise from ashes of the recent arson attack on their bandroom.

The Oxted Band has suffered a huge set back to their concert plans from a recent arson attack which resulted in both fire and water damage after the local fire brigade managed to put out the damage.

Assess

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The water used has caused a soggy mess of the music and we need to assess what we have lost.

Obviously we cannot rehearse there for a while but with our Autumn Concert due at the end of the month, we need to try and get alternative venue for practice to show that it will take more than a mindless action to stop us making music!"

Thankfully, after putting the news on the 4BR Facebook page, the band was overwhelmed by both good wishes and offers of help.

Support

The spokesperson added: "It shows that the brass band community sticks together — and we thank everyone for their support and offers of help.

We have since been told that this was an attack linked to four others in the area over the last few days.

An insurance assessor has already seen us and we have to have a structural survey before anyone can use the building again, although we hope to still be able to undertake our concert."
