The 20th anniversary of 'Brassed Off!' the film that launched Grimethorpe Colliery Band to celluloid fame will be celebrated at the iconic venue that saw them gain their pyrrhic victory at its dramatic on-screen conclusion.
The band will join members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in London next May, to perform the score alongside the film on its huge multi-media screen.
Idealist
This 1996 comedy drama, written and directed by Mark Herman, starred Pete Postlethwaite as Danny, the idealist conductor of the Grimley Colliery Band who is determined never to give up the fight to stop his beloved band folding as the National Coal make the decision to close the local pit.
