Following their excellent showing at the recent British Open Championship in Birmingham, Brassband Willebroek has announced that Besson tenor horn artist Tim De Maeseneer has accepted the role as their new 'Soloist in Residence'.

Impressive CV

In addition to his impressive brass banding CV, which includes solo performances with Brass Band WDR (West Deutche Rundfunk Koln), European Youth Brass Band, Atlantic Brass Band in the USA, Brass Band Buizingen and Noord-Limburgse Brass Band, he has also been featured with a number of professional orchestras such as the acclaimed Symfonie Orkest Vlaanderen.

The award winning soloist has also been appointed by the VLAMO organisation as a tutor and teacher.

Great honour

Tim told 4BR: "To be able to work with Frans Violet and the band in this role is a great honour.

Brassband Willebroek is a leading authority in the Belgian and European music scene, and I'm humbled to share the stage with them in this role throughout this year and the whole of 2017."

A lot of the musicians and soloists of the band are good friends and people who I have always looked up to. This makes it very special to get this opportunityTim De Maeseneer

Special opportunity

He added: "A lot of the musicians and soloists of the band are good friends and people who I have always looked up to. This makes it very special to get this opportunity.

I look forward to working with the entire horn section of Brassband Willebroek. An amazing player like Kristien Schuurmans on flugel horn is a calibre of musician you don't meet very often!"
