The countdown is on for the Bolsover Festival of Brass — and you can get to be a part of it live on air.

Bolsover Festival of Brass
You can be a part of the Bolsover Festival of Brass this year by using social media

The countdown is on for the Bolsover Festival of Brass which takes place on Sunday 2nd October at the Heritage High School in Clowne — and it is being broadcast internationally by the First Art project.

The contest action will start at 9.00am when the first of 10 First Section contenders will take to the stage — so make sure you tune in at: www.firstart.org.uk/broadcast for the live internet broadcast that will bring you nearly 14 hours of continuous brass band action.

Live broadcast

There will be live broadcast performances of all the bands in the Championship and First Section (9.00am to 9.30pm) with the performances of the bands in the Second, Third, Fourth and Un-registered sections recorded for future broadcast.

The broadcast itself will start around 8.30am with 4BR Editor Iwan Fox alongside studio experts Kenny Crookston of British Bandsman and Chris Thomas of Brass Band World magazines — so there is sure to be plenty of topical chat, opinions and viewpoints.

Chat and discussions

In addition to participating conductors, players and judges joining the trio there will also be a number of leading brass band personalities such as euphonium stars Steven Mead and David Childs to discuss the most pressing topics of the banding movement — from test pieces and player registration to criteria based adjudication systems and even a bit of brass band gossip!

Social media

And with an 'in-house' social media expert on hand throughout the day, your opinions, questions and viewpoints can be aired to the whole of the banding world. All you have to do is get in touch through social media!

So if you are family or friends, supporters, players, conductors and or even rival bands, you can directly get involved by interacting on Twitter @FirstArtProject using the dedicated hash tag festofbrass
