A scheme by the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) designed to support international students and enhance their learning experience has been shortlisted for a 2016 Times Higher Education Award.
Nominated in the Outstanding International Student category, the 'Read with the World' project was devised to help international students develop their language skills and cross-cultural competencies using a buddy scheme and a series of graded reading books.
Book-pal system
The RNCM pairs international and home students in a book-pal system, where students choose a book from the graded scheme in the College Library and arrange to meet regularly to discuss what they've been reading.
