Union rights for Roberts

John Roberts takes up the MD helm at Unite the Union.

John Roberts
A musician of experience and vision will now take the helm at Unite the Union with the appointment of John Roberts.

Unite the Union Band has announced the appointment of John Roberts as their new Musical Director.

Delighted

It follows John's recent departure from Drighlington Band, with a spokesperson for Unite telling 4BR: "We are delighted to have secured the services of such a well-respected MD.

John brings a wealth of musicianship and experience and the band is hoping that this, coupled with hard work, dedication and enthusiasm, will prove to be a winning combination."

Connection

John himself added: "I've enjoyed a long-standing connection with the band, having conducted the then Stocksbridge Band in the late 1990's.

In the last year or so I've re-established the connection having worked with Unite on a number of occasions and have been impressed by their motivation and work rate. I'm now looking forward to working with them."

All the best

As reported, in accepting the position at Unite, I've had to relinquish my post at Drighlington. I had a very enjoyable time conducting them and wish them all the best in the future".

John's contest debut with Unite the Union will be at the Doctor Martin competition next month.
