The Poulton-le-Fylde Band has appointed Matthew Ryan as its new Musical Director.

Outstanding

The Bolton based music teacher joins after four successful years leading the Eagley Band, with Poulton Chairman Andy Moore commenting: "The standard of applications was higher than ever, and the band enjoyed being led by a number of outstanding candidates.

However, we felt Matthew brought a wealth of musicality and enthusiasm, and we look forward to working under his direction."

The band has already been put through its paces in Matthew's first week with challenging repertoire already being out on the stands, whilst the partnership will make its contesting debut at the Rochdale Contest in October.

Thanks

The band also told 4BR that they would like to thank bass trombonist Andy Ellis who has had to resign due to personal and family circumstances.

A spokesperson said: "Andy has been a hugely influential committee member who has assisted with the direction of the band in recent months, and we wish him well for the future."
