4BR has been informed that Robin Norman is standing down as Musical Director of Raunds Temperance after eight years at the helm of the Midlands band.
Right time
Robin told 4BR: "Eight years ago I agreed to help the band out while I was still MD of Ipswich & Norwich Coop — and never left. I've had a fantastic time over the years working with one of the nicest groups I have been associated with."
He added: "However, it's the right time for me to step down and take a break for a few months to spend some time with my family before looking at new opportunities in both playing and conducting.
The band has a fine history and an exciting future. I wish them much success in all their future ventures."

Podium finishes
During his period in charge the band just missed out on qualification for the National Finals on two occasions, with podium finishes at the Midlands Regional Championship Second Section in 2011 and 2012.
It is understood that an announcement of a new appointment will be made in due course.
