The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain will holding its annual 'Open Day' on Tuesday 2nd August at Harrogate Ladies College.

Free day

The popular free day gives a unique insight for youngsters (aged 8 — 18), their families and music teachers from across the UK, into the way both the National Children's Band and the National Youth Band provides an inspirational opportunity for the brass and percussion stars of tomorrow.

Audition

Youngsters will have the opportunity to play with the band and receive coaching from renowned tutors such as Phillip McCann, Tracy Redfern, Ben Godfrey, Sheona White, Glyn Williams, Chris Stearn, Nick Etheridge and Mark Landon.

They can also take the opportunity to audition for a place in the bands should they wish to.

Bramwell Tovey

The National Youth Band of Great Britain is conducted by Bramwell Tovey, the Musical Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, who regularly leads many of the world's most famous orchestras, including the London Symphony and New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

Looking forward

Philip Biggs, the NYBBGB's administrator told 4BR: "We're really looking forward to the forthcoming Open Day. Ever since we launched these, we've had countless budding young musicians come through the ranks.

It's a great opportunity for any youngster to experience music making at the highest level. The NYBBGB has been developing music excellence since 1952 and its alumni are something we are hugely proud of."
