4BR has been informed that Alan Duguid has stepped down from his role as Musical Director with Redbridge Brass with immediate effect.

Difficult decision

He told 4BR: "I have taken the difficult decision to resign from my position as MD due to an increase in other work commitments.

It has been a huge privilege to lead the band over the last two years and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with such fine musicians.

I wish them all the very best in the future and am certain that they will continue to go from strength to strength with their next conductor."

Victories

The Scotsman took over from Jeremy Wise in December 2013, making his contest debut at the 2014 London & Southern Counties Championship where they came third.

They subsequently went on to win the Milton Keynes contest in 2014, successfully defending the title the following year, as well as winning the Wychavon contest in 2015.

However, they failed to qualify for the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall and were relegated from the Grand Shield in 2016.
