Old Silkstone take Disney inspiration for family day out

Old Silkstone Band take inspiration from the silver screen to bring a great bit of brass band entertainment to a fun-packed family day.

Disney

Members of the Old Silkstone Band dressed as famous Disney and film star characters to bring a fantastic added element of entertainment to their appearance at a fun-filled family day at Fairway Dodworth last weekend.

Mary Poppins

Cinderella and Prince Charming, Buzz Lightyear, Captain Hook, Mary Poppins and even Beauty and the Beast were all on show as MD Sam Fisher lead the band through a musical sound track of some of the best loved film scores in history — from 'Star Wars' to 'Frozen', 'The Little Mermaid' to 'Jungle Book'.

Over 80 children also dressed as pretty princesses and brave superheroes and were kept well entertained with special Disney colouring sheets, face painting, a fun photo booth and of course a sweet treat or two from Willy Wonka's 'Sweety Cart'.

There was also plenty of singing and dancing throughout with a Disney Disco, a snowman building game and the good old fashioned hokey-cokey!

Great opportunity

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a great opportunity for the children to get up close with the band and get involved with the music as they shook their shakers in time with the music!

Our fabulous singing princesses Anna, Elsa and Rapunzel belted out favourite hits from 'Frozen' and 'Tangled'. It was a great treat for all the boys and girls and a chance to meet some 'real' princesses!"

Photo shoot

The afternoon concluded with music from 'The Little Mermaid' and a Disney band photo shoot in the glorious summer sunshine — the perfect chance to capture the band members in all their colourful costumes (above).
