Black Dyke will make a long awaited return to the prestigious Harrogate International Music Festival next month.
The band joins a line-up of featured artists such as Sir Willard White, the Brodsky String Quartet, Manchester Camerata, the John Wilson Orchestra and Jack Liebeck, with their performance at the Royal Hall on Sunday July 10th to include Edward Gregson's 'Cornet Concerto' played by Richard Marshall and 'Metropolis 1927', as well as works by Holst and Shostakovich.
Festival roots
The Festival stated: "We are delighted that the world's most famous brass band returns to Harrogate with a programme featuring well-known film music with a focus on science and space and with a nod to the Festivals' roots in the 1960s."
Looking forward
Black Dyke Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs, who will also give a pre-concert talk added: "We are looking forward to our appearance at the Harrogate International Festival where the programme promises to include music for everyone.
We will provide classics including Holst's 'Jupiter' and Shostakovich's 'Festive Overture' alongside Edward Gregson's remarkable 'Cornet Concerto' — played by the incomparable Richard Marshall."
