The Leyland Band has acted swiftly in announcing the appointment of a brand new principal cornet player following the recent departure of Peter Shaw.
Culross return
Iain Culross will make a welcome return to the north-west outfit with immediate effect — one that he describes as 'going home'.
"Returning to Leyland is just like going home for me really, so the opportunity to rejoin was an offer I couldn't refuse. I'm really looking forward to working with the band and Thomas Wyss,"he said after the news was confirmed.
Signings
Meanwhile, another former member making a return is Sarah Brooks on 2nd horn. Sarah previously played with Leyland on percussion before taking on the role. Also joining is the talented young cornet player Liv Appleton. The Foden's Youth Band member will be starting at the RNCM in September and will join on 2nd cornet.
However, the band will be losing the services of back row cornet player Steve Taylor after two years of valuable service, as well as 2nd horn Anthony Higham.
