The current European, National and Brass in Concert champion is preparing for the first leg of its 'Home Nation' tour this weekend in Porthmadog.
Unique brand
Cory will appear on Saturday (June 11th) under the baton of MD Philip Harper at the Y Ganolfan Arts Centre (7.30pm), with the promise of bringing their unique brand of entertainment to both new and existing brass band lovers and fans.
Philip has promised a programme rich in quality and variety, with classics such as 'A Moorside Suite' by Gustav Holst and Rossini's 'The Thieving Magpie' overture mixed with music from the blockbuster film 'Star Wars', the sublime magic of 'Under the Boardwalk' and plenty of stunning solo features.
The band will also be joined on stage by Cor Merched Ysgol Y Gader, a school choir from Dolgellau. Formed in September 2015 over 30 girls between the age of 11-14 will be accompanying the band in performances of 'Adiemus' by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins and 'World in Union'.
Excited
Choirmaster Carwyn Evans told 4BR: "I'm not sure who is most excited about performing with Cory!
I'm a baritone player and have played with Championship Section bands for 18 years, but the opportunity to share a stage with the number 1 band in the world is something that I can't wait for."
We have been proudly representing Wales across the world and so the chance to perform for fans in Porthmadog is one which we are all relishingMD, Philip Harper
Arts funding
Cory has received funding from Arts Council Wales to stage a series of concerts, with the aim of visiting new places and building new audiences throughout their home nation.
Philip Harper added: "It's a great pleasure to bring Cory to North Wales, the first such trip in my four years as Musical Director. We have been proudly representing Wales across the world and so the chance to perform for fans in Porthmadog is one which we are all relishing."
