The brass band community in the West Midlands is mourning the passing of one of its most popular players.
Loss
Trevor Wilson — 'Trevor T'- to all who knew him, recently passed away aged 55. The Midlands banding movement joined his partner, Sally, his parents, family and the wider community in mourning his loss at the funeral which took place at St. Anne's Church in West Heath on 20th May.
Trevor was a well known entertainer who played flugel and cornet in the course of his work as well as in playing with many bands, including Arrow Valley, Stourport and most recently, Alcester Victoria.
Host
When the European Brass Band Championship was held at Birmingham's Symphony Hall in 2000, Trevor hosted and ran the very successful party which closed the event. He was absolutely delighted with the messages and letters which he received from round Europe in the following days.
The church was packed with many people standing in the aisles and outside. A brass ensemble, including players from four bands, played prior to the service as well as when his coffin was led out to the sounds of his favourite, 'Hello Dolly'.
It was poignant that the ensemble included Ken Smith on tuba. Ken taught Trevor at school and started him playing. The 'Last Post' was sounded at the graveside.

Larger than life
David Stanley, who knew him well, told 4BR: "Trevor was a larger than life character in many ways and leaves an enormous gap to fill. Our thoughts are with Sally, his children, parents and family as they try to come to terms with their loss."
