Following their recent top-six finish at the Grand Shield in Blackpool, Tongwynlais Temperance has announced the signing of experienced BBb tuba player Nigel Buist.

Nigel will join from west Wales rivals Pontardulais as the band looks towards their fifth consecutive appearance at the Albert Hall National Finals as well as the Pershore Festival of Brass.

Invaluable

Band Chairman, Iestyn Davies told 4BR: "Nigel was invaluable for us at the Grand Shield and it's a real boost to be able to have him signed for forthcoming local contests as well as the Albert Hall."

Resident MD Christopher Bond added: "I've known Nigel for a number of years having worked with him in his previous stint with Tongwynlais. I'm delighted that he has agreed to join our team at such an exciting time.

I know Nigel will be a huge asset and look forward to working with him again."
