Asparagus Green Catering, based at the National Coal Mining Museum for England, has announced that they have entered into an innovative partnership with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.
The link will see the band perform at a number of high profile events at the award winning museum throughout the coming year — starting with a concert on June 12th for the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations.
Alive and relevant
Company director Anthony Hegney, told 4BR: "This partnership is key to the heritage of mining following the closure at the end of 2015 of the last remaining deep mine in England.
It's vital that we keep the mining heritage alive and relevant, and we can help to do this by involving our brilliant food and Carlton Main's equally brilliant music making."
Proud heritage
Band spokesperson Anna Spedding added: "We are delighted to be collaborating with Asparagus Green Catering and the National Coal Mining Museum. The partnership is particularly pleasing due to our mining connections.
We are proud of our joint mining heritage and having the opportunity to work towards sustaining it is of special importance to everyone at Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band."

CD production
The idea of the partnership stemmed from a successful sell-out concert at the National Coal Mining Museum just before Christmas, and alongside the series of concerts throughout the coming year it is hoped that the partnership will see CD produced featuring a range of the band's most popular pieces, which will be available to purchase directly at the museum.
