Poynton announces new McKnight of the realm

The experienced Iain McKnight joins the newly crowned North West First Section champion as a player and assistant MD.

Poynton

The new North West Region First Section champion, Vernon Building Society (Poynton) Band has announced the appointment of Iain McKnight as their new solo Eb tuba and Assistant MD, to work in conjunction with Musical Director, Neil Samuel.

The respected musician enjoyed a decade of playing success at Leyland Band as well as conducting the likes of Stockport Schools Senior Band, Lostock Hall, Flixton, Hebden Bridge and St Austell.

Thrilled

Neil told 4BR: "I'm thrilled to welcome such an experienced musician to us. Iain was kind enough to fill in for me and take rehearsals leading up to the North West Area contest, and the feedback was excellent.

When I returned the following rehearsal it was clear that the band had been worked hard."

With appearances at the Spring Festival and National Finals to look forward to, I'm excited by the opportunity to work with the band both as player and conductorIain McKnight

Pleased

"I'm really pleased to be joining at this time," Iain added. "There is a great deal of talent at Poynton and Neil is the driving force. I look forward to supporting him when work calls him away.

With appearances at the Spring Festival and National Finals to look forward to, I'm excited by the opportunity to work with the band both as player and conductor."
