From box to baton for Roberts

Stephen Roberts will be leading a performance of his own at the high profile Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham on Sunday.

Fresh from his stint in the box at the North West Regional Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, Stephen Roberts will be able to enjoy performances from the other side of the velvet curtain as he takes the baton for a high profile concert at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham.

World premiere

The event will also include the world premiere of his new composition, 'Sonatina for Brass', which will be performed by Birmingham Symphonic Brass at on Sunday March 13th (3.00pm) as well as a selection of new arrangements of Vivaldi's 'Violin Concerto in A Minor', music by Edward MacDowell and lighter music by Cab Calloway, George Gershwin and Serbian composer Goran Bregovic.

The event will also include the world premiere of his new composition, 'Sonatina for Brass', which will be performed by Birmingham Symphonic Brass4BR

Best brass

Birmingham Symphonic Brass is a ten piece group (4 trumpets, horn, 4 trombones and tuba) formed from the best brass players at the university, and are contracted to play at events such as degree ceremonies and public concerts.
