New top man makes Buizingen debut

Dobbelaere Lieven has made his concert debut with Belgian champion Brass Band Buizingen ahead of their Flemish Open and European Championship challenges.

Brass Band Buizingen's new principal cornet Dobbelaere Lieven made his debut with the Belgian champion in a special Valentine's Concert last weekend.

First appearance

He was joined on his first appearance by Jorgen Van Rijen, principal trombone with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, who played with the band as guest soloist. Recent signings Sebastien Druel (cornet) and Gilles Demeurisse (euphonium) also joined the pair.

Dobbelaere received his Master's Degree for Trumpet at the Ghent Conservatory and now teaches at the MUDA Institute & Music College in Ghent. He also conducts Brassband Ghent and was principal cornet with Metropole Brass Band.

The band soon starts their preparation for their appearance at the Flemish Open Championship in Mechelen and the European Brass Band Championships in Lille4BR
