The renowned trombone virtuoso Lito Fontana will be visiting more European countries than David Cameron over the next few months — including a return to perform with Brassband Oberostereich at the European Brass Band Championships in Lille in May.
Busy schedule
His busy schedule comes after he enjoyed a break with his wife Mona in his beloved Italy — although he told 4BR he did keep his lip in shape despite the lovely food, wine and weather!
His travels start on 10th March when he performs in Trondheim in Norway as guest soloist with Ila Brass Band. Then, he takes in trips to Switzerland to work with students at the Neuchatel Conservatory, giving a masterclass and concert, as well as working with conductor Vincent Baroni at the renowned Donaubrass Festival.
Wonderful time
"We enjoyed a wonderful time back in Italy,"he told 4BR. "It was so relaxing to be with my wife Mona and friends — although I kept in practice.
I am really looking forward to a busy few months now — starting with my trip to Norway, before I return to play with Brassband Oberostereich in Lille."

Couldn't say no!
Lito added: "Although I decided not to play in a brass band and to concentrate on my solo work, the circumstances meant that I was asked by my great friend Thomas Beiganz, who knew I couldn't say no!
Now I'm looking forward to meeting old and new friends and to play in such a great competition once more under conductor Ian Porthouse."
