Formby Band Musical Director Louise Hough had a day to remember last week as she received her MBE for Services to Music.

Queen's Birthday honours

Louise was recognised in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours for her dedication and service to the Resonate Music Service. She has also led Formby Band to the Fourth Section National Championship of Great Britain title in 2007, and 2015 once again won the North West Area title.

Passion and commitment

Band spokesperson Laura Lacey told 4BR: "We have a band which changes annually due to so many young players. We have them for a few years, and then they leave for university.

Louise has consistently brought young players through and given them great training, particularly with the contests we attend."
