Irvine & Dreghorn advent help for Hospice

A great dual initiative sees Irvine & Dreghorn Band raise funds for a wonderful hospice cause.

Irvine

Irvine & Dreghorn Brass recently welcomed Robert Flynn, Fundraising Officer from the Ayrshire Hospice to a rehearsal where the band presented him with a cheque for £370 raised for the Hospice through their Christmas musical advent calendar and CD sales.

Thanks

Band Treasurer, Kelda McMichael told 4BR: "We really wanted to do something for the Ayrshire Hospice, and since we are always out and about during the Christmas period, we thought we'd combine the two.

We had a great time recording the CD and advent calendar and our thanks go to everyone who supported the campaign!"

Support and generosity

Robert Flynn replied: "The care we provide is at no cost to our patients or the families, and although NHS Ayrshire & Arran do contribute, it costs around £20,000 per day to operate the hospice service and annually we require £4.3 million in volunteer donations.

This is a huge task, but the enthusiasm, support and generosity of the people of Ayrshire helps to ensure that hospice care and services continue."
