Fresh from their hat-trick winning success at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in Skegness on the weekend, Flowers Band has announced two major signings.
Bumper-up and flugel
Chris Turner, the former Black Dyke and Cory cornet player joins on 'bumper-up', whilst Danny Winder joins on flugel horn following his departure from Tredegar.
Very best
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Chris is considered as one of the very best cornet players in the business with immense experience and Danny is renowned for his flugel talents.
Danny was reluctant to join so soon after leaving Tredegar due to his work commitments, but we are flexible enough to welcome him and Chris, who also conducts Llwydcoed Band, to us."
Move and departure
It is understood that Will Norman has moved from flugel onto solo cornet as he concentrates on his cornet studies at the RWCMD in Cardiff, whilst the band has thanked David Hale who leaves the band after five years.
The spokesperson added: "We want to thank Will for his wonderful playing over the past few years and we look forward to him strengthening the front row cornet section. Our thanks also go David for his outstanding contribution to the band over the past five years.
