New trio joins BTM

The BTM Band welcomes a trio of new signings ahead of busy season.

Following a year of rebuilding, BTM has announced a trio of signings ahead of what promises to be a busy contesting season for the Welsh band.

Exciting

Exciting young cornet player Alex Parker joins on principal cornet from Gwaen-cae-Gurwen, where he has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young performers in South Wales.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hindley, who played with the band at the British Open in 2008, rejoins on BBb tuba after a highly enjoyable stint with RAF St Athan Band.

Completing the trio is the vastly experienced Barry John, who returns on solo trombone after a spell with Tylorstown. Barry is a respected performer in Welsh banding, having also played with Cory and Llwydcoed.

Looking to build

Band Chairman Jeff Hutcherson told 4BR: "Barry will bring with him a wealth of experience whilst I've seen Alex grow as a player during my time as MD of Gwaen-cae-Gurwen.

I'm pleased that he has chosen to continue his development with BTM. Last but not least, Lewis is a fantastic tuba player, who will really add strength to our bass end.

We now have an exciting mix of young talent and experienced players in our ranks, and are now looking to build into 2016 and beyond."

Debuts

All three players will perform with BTM at the forthcoming Band Cymru competition recording, the Welsh Open, Welsh Area and Spring Festival, as well as a number of other exciting projects and concerts.
