Scots call on Farr and wide

Besson artist Owen Farr will be judging and leading a fantastic workshop in Whitburn this weekend — so get along and be part of it!

Brass players in the East of Scotland have been urged to submit their entries for the area's forthcoming 'Solo & Ensemble' contest — and take up the opportunity of learning from one of the finest tenor horn players in the business.

Call

The call comes ahead of the East of Scotland Solo & Ensemble Championships, which will take place in Whitburn Academy, Whitburn, on Saturday, January 23rd.

Besson artist Owen Farr will judge the event, which get underway at 9.30am with categories for performers aged 12 and under, 16 and under and 21 and under. Qualifiers will earn a place at the Besson Scottish Solo & Ensemble Championships which take place on February 6th.

Sunday workshop

Owen will also lead a workshop on Sunday January 24th, also in Whitburn Academy.

Kindly sponsored by Besson & Band Supplies it is free to everyone who wishes to attend, with one to one consultations available between 10.00am and noon and an open masterclass from noon until 2.00pm.

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
