Shrewsbury Brass has just received a generous Christmas donation of £1,350 from The Salopian Lodge of Charity and The Shropshire Round Table Lodge.
Delighted
A delighted MD, Steve Pritchard-Jones told 4BR: "This is great news and we are extremely grateful to the Freemasons. The band supports lots of charities in and around Shrewsbury and this grant will help to ensure that we can continue to develop and support our community."
Charity event
The financial boost comes soon after the band, which was only formed in 2012, joined forces with Porthywaen Silver Band, for a major charity event in the town.
60 musicians performed to a capacity audience under the directorship of Steve Pritchard-Jones with a programme that included 'The Army of The Nile', 'Flowerdale' performed by soprano player Wendy Jones, 'Prelude to the 49th Parallel', 'Irish Blessing' and 'Finale' from 'Faust'.

Pleasure
Band Chairman Phil Tyler added: "It was a pleasure to perform with Porthywaen. It was a fabulous concert and we are hoping for a repeat performance in Oswestry next year."
For Shrewsbury, the concert was one of three major events they performed at during November and December, which included The Shropshire Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance with The Military Wives Choir.
