The line-up of semi-finalists that will compete for Radio 2's Young Brass Award 2016 has been announced.
The competition that in the past has been won by the likes of Stephen Sykes, Matthew White, Matilda Lloyd, Lewis Musson and Katrina Marzella, and in 2015 by euphonium player Grant Jameson (above), is seen as providing a major stepping stone for young performers
Four performers
Four performers will be selected to go through to the Final which will broadcast live from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, with the winner claiming the prestigious award as well as their own recording session for BBC 'Listen to the Band' and a broadcast performance with an established band.
The semi-finalists are:

Michael Cavanagh (Baritone)
Samuel Dye (Trombone)
Marija Anna Novicane (Euphonium)
Jack Lapthorn (Baritone)
Kyle MacCorquodale (Bass Trombone)
Ben Goldscheider (French Horn)
Adam Bokaris (Euphonium)

Each player will now record up to 10 minutes of music of their own choice with Brighouse & Rastrick Band at the BBC Studios in Salford.
