Following the successful defence of their Scottish Open title in Perth and a highly successful run in Edinburgh with the Rambert Dance Company on the critically acclaimed touring production of 'Dark Arteries', Scottish Champion Whitburn has announced the signing of a new solo euphonium.
Gifted player
Scott Kerr joins the band following three successful years with Co-operative Funeralcare, and will work alongside Musical Adviser and Professional Conductor, Prof Nicholas Childs whilst he completes his Masters Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Prof Childs told 4BR: "I first heard Scott some years ago and have watched his development with excitement. He is a talented and very gifted player and I'm sure he will be a great asset to Whitburn, who share his ethos of desire and ambition."
Excited
Scott himself added: "I'm really excited about working with such a musically diverse and forward thinking band. I've always admired their ambition and progression and I'm now looking forward to being a part of it.
It was a hard decision to leave Co-op and I wish them every success in the future. There are exciting times ahead now as I start a new chapter of my banding career with Whitburn."

High profile success
Following a hugely successful week of high profile contest and concert performances that saw the band travel from Perth on Saturday afternoon to take part in the final performance of the 'Dark Arteries' run in Edinburgh the same evening, Whitburn is now looking forward to an intense eight-week period in the New Year.
This will see them defend their Scottish Championship title in March, before making another assault on qualifying for the British Open and travelling to Lille for the European Championship in May.
