The penultimate World of Brass — 4barsrest.com Rankings of 2015 see Cory's seemingly unassailable position as the world's number one band reinforced following its outstanding victory at Brass in Concert a fortnight ago.
Cory now has the biggest lead (957 points) in rankings history and a tenth successive year at the top in 2016 already looks like a good possibility.
It has been a busy few months through out the banding world, with national championships taking place in Austria (won by Brass Band Oberoesterreich), Denmark (Lyngby Taarbaek), The Netherlands (Provinciale Brass Band Groningen), Northern Ireland (1st Old Boys Association Silver) and Sweden (Windcorp), plus two major entertainment contests in Norway (Stavanger) and the USA (Dublin Silver).
Other contests taking place since the last update:
Stanley Entertainment Contest — won by NASUWT Riverside Concert;
Truro Contest — won by Lanner and District;
Auckland BBA Contest — won by Dalewool Auckland Brass;
Pogson Bray — won by Slaithwaite;
Rochdale Festival of Brass — won by Blackburn and Darwen;
YHBBA Holmfirth Contest — won by Elland Silver;
Brass Factor — Wetherby — won by Kippax;
Borders Entertainment — won by St. Ronan's;
SWBBA Torquay — won by Aldbourne;
Brass Factor — Holmfirth — won by Besses o' th' Barn;
SEWBBA Merthyr Tydfil — won by Llwydcoed.
The next update will be at the end of the year, when we will reveal the biggest movers, up and down, of 2015.
