Geneva Instruments has sent its congratulation to one of its leading performance artists after former Black Dyke tuba star Joseph Cook led Haukas Musikklag to the Second Division Siddis Entertainment Championship title in Stavanger.
Out of Norway
It was the first time the band had won the event, with Joseph bringing a touch of Queensbury to their programme entitled, 'Ut av Norge' (Out of Norway).
The band opened with 'Horizons' by Dyke percussion star Paul Lovatt-Cooper before Oscar Gustavson delivered a fine rendition of 'Stardust' on trombone. 'Hogarth's Hoe-down' and Dan Price's 'Sunrise over Blue Ridge' led into the up-beat finale of 'Sing, Sing, Sing' — which was certainly something his band was doing in the bar in vocal celebration later that night.
Soloist
Joseph was certainly busy during the contest as he played his Geneva 'Symphony' EEb tuba to superb effect with Manger Musikklag in the Elite Division. He gave a spine-tingling rendition of the beautiful Nat King Cole classic, 'Nature Boy' as Manger eventually finished runner-up.

Next appearance
His next appearance will now be in the UK, when he takes up the baton with Fishburn Band as they prepare for the Scottish Open Championship on Saturday 28th November.
