Steam treat concert provides great send off

Great Yarmouth Brass provide a cracking surprise treat for a much loved percussionist.

Retirement

Members of Great Yarmouth Brass recently held a special surprise concert to mark the retirement of their much loved 83 year old percussionist Brian Pilgrim after 40 years and more of loyal service to the band.

Steam trains

Knowing that Brian's other main hobby was the love of steam trains, they arranged for him and his wife Louise to travel with special guests on the lovely Bure Valley Railway.

However, when the train steamed into Aylsham Station (above), Brian was thrilled to find that present and former members of the band had assembled on the platform to provide a short concert in his honour — followed by a cream tea in the Whistle Stop Cafe.

It was a lovely way to recognise and celebrate the achievements and dedication of a wonderful manGreat Yarmouth spokesperson.

Lovely way

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a lovely way to recognise and celebrate the achievements and dedication of a wonderful man.

We wish Brian a very happy retirement, and would like to thank all those who came to help make the occasion so memorable and successful!"
