One of the truly great conductors in the history of brass banding will be fondly remembered next year, when a band made up of many of the movement's finest players will commemorate the musical legacy of Major Peter Parkes.

The special celebration concert will be held at Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham on Saturday 21st May, where his immense musical achievements will be celebrated in full.

The Major
The band will be made up from former players and associates from all the bands 'The Major', as he was universally known, conducted. There will also be the opportunity to listen to many stories and watch special video highlights of his amazing career.
The afternoon concert will be recorded for airing on BBC Radio Leeds Great Yorkshire Brass programme, and sponsorship has been given by Geneva Instruments. All proceeds with be donated to charity.
