UniBrass launch crowdfunding campaign

A new fund raising campaign has been launched by the UniBrass organisers — and every pound helps!

Uni Brass

After a successful summer of fundraising, the organisers of the 2016 UniBrass Championship are launching a crowdfunding campaign with the aim of raising a further £500 for the event.

Rewards

By offering donors a variety of rewards, it is hoped that the money raised will continue to keep entry fees and workshops affordable to participating bands and students as well as helping to meet the £14,000 it now requires to put on the colourful, vibrant Championship.

Support

Treasurer Thomas Hicken told 4BR: "Every donation, even for only a few pounds, helps us achieve our funding target and support the next generation of our movement.

Money raised will support the venue hire, professional workshop leader fees, and ensure the next generation see the highest performance standards with a Gala Concert from Black Dyke.

Of course, this is all alongside performance from local music groups, a larger-than-ever-before trade fayre and the performances from 600 students!"

Donation rewards

The appeal will also see a wide variety of rewards for donors; ranging from names in the UniBrass 2016 programme and on their worldwide, online stream, to downloads of the music and personalised letters of thanks accompanying programmes.

Thomas added: "These rewards are available for as little as a £3 donation and will make a huge difference to preserving and promoting such an important part of British culture. You can also gift aid your donation, meaning the charity gets an extra 25p for every pound donated!"

Over the course of the crowdfunder campaign UniBrass will also be holding a nationwide tour of university brass bands, called UniTour.

Uni Tour

This year UniBrass will visit 17 university bands across the country, Brass for Africa's charity fundraising, Brasstoberfest, and Black Dyke Band.

Between the 14th October and 1st November a band will perform a micro-concert each day, broadcast live through unib.co.uk/youtube , including the daily premiere of the newly commissioned 'Never the Same Twice', composition from Dave Collins and Jacob Ashworth.
