Dedicated service rewarded at Glossop Old

Over 140 years of dedicated service has been recognised and rewarded at Glossop Old Band.

At a recent local concert appearance, Glossop Old took the opportunity to present 'Long Service' awards to four members of the band who between them have clocked up a remarkable 140 years of dedicated service.

Stalwarts

Cornet player Alison Parker is the relative newcomer, having notched up 25 years of service, whilst principal cornet Dave Richardson has given 37 years.

Horn player Julie Askey has been a stalwart of the band since early 1970's and has been instrumental to the running of the Glossop Band Club, whilst not to be outdone, tuba player Hugh Cant joined the band whilst he was in Junior school and has now just passed the 45 year mark!

We are very fortunate to have such loyal players and look forward to many more years of great service, music making and friendship from them allGlossop Old Band

Fortunate

A Band spokesperson told 4BR: "We are very fortunate to have such loyal players and look forward to many more years of great service, music making and friendship from them all."
