Geneva delighted by National success

The sponsors of the National Championships were delighted by another memorable day of contesting at the Royal Albert Hall on the weekend.

Geneva Musical Instruments have told 4BR that they thoroughly enjoyed a memorable day of music making at the recent National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are proud to be the main sponsors of such an iconic musical event — and our congratulations go to the winner Cory (above), and all the bands for providing a simply stunning day of competitive music making."

Cardinal launch

They added: "The launch of the superb Cardinal cornet was a huge success and the interest shown in it was phenomenal.

Cornet players from competing bands and others from all over the UK and Europe made their way to come as see the instrument — and they were not disappointed."

Partner success

The contest also provided Geneva with additional good news with Collaborative Partner, Brighouse & Rastrick under the direction of Professor David King claiming second place and gaining a direct invitation to the 2017 European Championship in Ostende.

In addition Geneva's Associate Partner, Reg Vardy Band produced their third consecutive top eight performance to finish ahead of another Geneva partners, Co-operative Funeralcare, Virtuosi GUS and NASUWT Riverside.

June 29 • We are looking for front row cornet players to help complete our team.As a second section band we rehearse Monday&Thursday 8-10pm at our bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle,under the baton of MD Jim Henson. We perform a variety of concerts all year round.
