The Hitchin Band has wished former MD Craig Patterson the very best following his announcement that he is to take on the conducting role at Championship Section Wantage Silver.

National title

Under Craig's direction since 2008, Hitchin rose from the Third Section to the First, gaining a series of major titles success along the way.

These included a brace of London & Southern Counties Area wins in 2012 (Third Section) and 2013 (Second Section) and a historic Third Section National Championship victory at Cheltenham in 2012 (above).

Outstanding

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We wish Craig well and thank him for outstanding musical direction.

We are now looking to appoint a new Musical Director ahead of an exciting year as we look to consolidate our position in the First Section and prepare for celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the band."
