And in a wonderful link to the first contest the Association promoted in 1956, the adjudicator will be John Berryman, who as a very young cornet playing prodigy with Camborne Band that day, was awarded the prize as 'Best Soloist'.
The Association was formed in November 1955, with the aim of stimulating interest in brass banding in the county and to help promote the work of the fledgling County Youth Band — something that its continues to do to this day.
The first contest also saw competing bands march through the streets of Truro to the old City Hall before the contest, with the day rounded off with a Grand Concert given by the competing Championship Bands and the County Youth Band.
Delighted
Association Chairman, Trevor Bedding told 4BR: "We are delighted to have such a high entry from our member bands — from Junior to Championship so we are sure to enjoy a wonderful of brass banding.
We are very grateful to Bruce Taylor of Taylor Business Development and Marketing for allowing us to work in conjunction with him and bring the contest back to Truro where it all began."
We also know that in addition to John Berryman we have other players competing who took part in that first event nearly 60 years agoAssociation Chairman, Trevor Bedding
