4BR has been informed that there has been an excellent response from young players wishing to be part of the new National Youth Training Band of Wales.
Partnership
The innovative musical partnership between Ty Cerdd and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) will be led by Philip Harper, with the band meeting for the first time at a one day workshop to be held at the RWCMD in Cardiff on Saturday 17th October.
Players aged up to 16 years, and of around Grade 5 standard, will have the opportunity to work with the Cory MD, who is also this year's National Youth Brass Band of Wales conductor.
The inaugural workshop day is supported by the RWCMD conservatoire's staff and senior students.
Few spaces left
There is still chance to get along and experience the day for yourself, and a few spaces to fill in the horns, baritones, euphonium and tubas.
Matthew Thistlewood of Ty Cerdd told 4BR: "We have been delighted at the response — and following the success of Welsh bands at the recent National Finals in Cheltenham, shows that we are determined to support Welsh banding and help develop the next generation of title winning players."
The total of cost for the day is £10.00, payable upon application.
