During a recent concert at Sandbach Town Hall, Foden's Band made a 'Long Service Award' presentation to librarian Granville Jennings.
67 and more
Granville has already clocked up 67 years continuous service to brass bands as a renowned soprano player and conductor — starting in 1948 with the Wigan British Legion Band.
He enjoyed further tenures at Coppull, Wingates, Haigh and Lower Ince Bands before joining Foden's in 1964 — immediately helping them to win the British Open on the test piece 'Lorenzo'.

Ten years
Granville stayed with Foden's for ten years before Teddy Gray coaxed him away to join the Royal Doulton Band, who he played for with great distinction until 1978.
He also enjoyed success with the baton with the Congleton based Beresford's Band until 1990, before returning to Foden's as librarian, which he combined with playing with the Winterley Methodist Band (1990 to date) and in 2012, the Sandbach U3A Band.
Thanks
During the concert Foden's Band Manager Mark Wilkinson thanked Granville for his continued service and dedication to Foden's and the brass band movement, before presenting him with the 'Diamond Award' from the 'North West Area Brass Band Association' commemorating his 60 years of outstanding service.
