Elland Silver Band has announced their plans for a new pilot education programme aimed at adults.
Over the past 10 years, Elland has established a number of successful music education initiatives offering brass and percussion training from beginner's right through to advanced level musicians.
Adult learners
However, most of these have been aimed at youngsters, so now the plan is to fully include adult learners too.
The new 'Adults Only' class will be open to any adult of any standard — from complete beginners to ex-players or musicians who would like enjoy playing a brass or percussion instrument.
Programme
The programme will be developed by Musical Director Samantha Harrison, supported by a number of volunteers, and will be launched on Saturday 3rd October at 1.30pm at the band's rehearsal room on Dewsbury Road, Elland.
The launch will also give participants the opportunity to try out an instrument and to discuss their aims and objectives with the tutors.
The programme will then run for a further five weeks, with an informal performance opportunity in the last week. The course will also be evaluated to help develop a long term sustainable project.
