Shirley open up their Cheltenham Journal

The Shirley Band will be opening its doors to reveal the secrets of their 'Alchymist's Journal' ahead of their Cheltenham appearance.

The Shirley Band will be holding a free pre-Nationals rehearsal ahead of their appearance in the First Section Final at Cheltenham next weekend.

It will be open to anyone who wishes to come along on Friday 18th September to see the band from the borough of Solihull near to Birmingham, in action as they put the finishes polish on their preparations on 'The Alchymist's Journal' by Kenneth Hesketh.

Working hard

Band Secretary Brian Johnson, told 4BR: "We're working really hard on preparing for the competition, and we will showcase both the test piece and perform some concert items for those who come along."

Time and place

The band will be conducted by Musical Director, David Bishop Rowe.

The event will start at 8.00pm and will be held at King George VIth Memorial Hall, 2655 Stratford Road (A34/A3400), Hockley Heath, Solihull, B94 5NH (with disabled access). Refreshments will also be available.
